THE NEW WAVE RIDER 24 + BIO-BASED WAVE PLATE

A leader in running footwear and apparel technology, Mizuno has launched a new version of the iconic "Wave Rider" shoe range. The Mizuno Wave Rider 24 comes with the new Mizuno Enerzy technology (innovative high rebound midsole material) as well as the beloved Mizuno Wave Plate technology that is made from Pebax® Rnew® polymer, our sustainable, bio-based polymer derived from castor beans!

The Mizuno and Pebax Powered® teams collaborated to create a video focusing on the castor bean journey: from the farms of India to the Mizuno Wave plate technology to the Wave Rider 24, and finally to the runner's feet!  Does the runner in the video look familiar?  That right! It's our very own ambassador, Sam Roecker, showing off the Wave Rider 24s in the video!

MIZUNO WAVE PLATE TECHNOLOGY MADE WITH CASTOR BEANS

In an effort to reduce its carbon footprint while maintaining super high performance, Mizuno designed the Wave Rider 24 with our bio-based Pebax® Rnew® polymer range derived from castor beans.  The beans are harvested and crushed to produced castor oil.  Then the oil is refined over several steps to produce a bio-based polymer that is molded into the innovative Mizuno Wave Plate.

Pragati Project

Arkema is the world's leading producer of high performance, bio-based polymers derived from castor oil (e.g. Rilsan® PA11, Pebax® Rnew® TPE).  Arkema is one of the four founding members of the "Pragati" project that educates farmers on even more sustainable castor crop farming in India.

Since its launch in 2016, the Pragati project has empowered and certified more than 2,700 Indian farmers in their journey to sustainable castor bean production, and the program continues to grow rapidly. There are more than 700,000 castor farmers in India and the program is quickly making a positive impact on thousands of Indians in the Gujarat region.  For more information about the Pragati program visit our Bio-Based Pebax® page.
